SVCET EEE Dept organized an Industrial Visit to the Mettur thermal Power Station on August  29th 2024

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology,Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering recently organized an enriching Industrial Visit to the Mettur thermal Power Station on August  29th in which 24 students from the second, third, and final years were accompanied by EEE faculty members from the Department, the Students were given an in-depth knowledge of the power station, guided by Mr. Mubarak Ali, Assistant Engineer at TANGEDCO Mettur Power Station.

The visit commenced with an overview of the coal mining process, where students observed how coal is extracted and prepared for combustion. They then explored the intricate workings of the turbines and boilers, which are central to the power generation process. Mr. Mubarak Ali provided detailed explanations on how boiler management is conducted, ensuring efficient energy production.A significant highlight of the visit was the demonstration of flue gas recycling within the electrostatic precipitator, a critical component in minimizing environmental impact by reducing emissions. Students were also introduced to the four units of power generation at the station, each contributing to the overall electricity output.

The industrial visit to Mettur Power Station was a highly informative and impactful experience, reinforcing the Students’ theoretical learning with practical knowledge and enhancing their readiness for future careers in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
